Our VISION

At Kuratau School we work together, Staff, Board and Community, to provide a safe and engaging environment where our ākonga can thrive socially, emotionally and academically.

 Through ‘learning’ our students develop the competencies they need to become confident, capable leaders.

How did we create our plan?

The 2024-2025 Strategic Plan was developed after consultation and analysis of the following data:

  • 2023 Annual Targets - Analysis of progress towards targets
  • 2023 mid/end of year progress and achievement data - Reading, Writing and Mathematics
  • Staff, Student and Whānau Consultation
  • 4 staff survey responses (out of a possible 9). Survey sent via Google Form
  • 42 students surveyed (All Year 4-8 students). Survey sent via Google Form
  • 17 Whānau responses (2 X whānau kai & kōrero - kanohi ki te kanohi opportunities offered + a Google survey sent to 93 families) 
  • Feedback from Rongohia te Hau
  • Taupō Kāhui Ako Strategic Plan

The following key themes and priorities were identified following our community engagement:
  • Focus on Reading, Writing and Mathematics (do the basics well)
  • Increase the teaching and use of Te Reo and Tūwharetoa Cultural Knowledge
  • Work on the general behaviour of students
  • Look at ways to promote social & emotional wellbeing
  • Keep parents informed of the learning that is happening at school and progress students have made (share regular snapshots of student learning)
  • Promote inquiry type learning, problem solving and critical thinking
