Kia Ora, hello, my name is Sascha Wells. My husband Jeremy and I have three children – one already attending Kuratau School and another starting later this year (2017). Our family moved to Omori in 2013. We consider ourselves blessed to live in such a naturally rich part of rural New Zealand that has much to offer in terms of outdoor activities, lifestyle and community. We are very grateful to have a local school for our children to attend. I personally value education and believe that a positive attitude towards learning in the early years is a strong predictor of personal success throughout life. I see being part of the Board of Trustees as a way of having a more active role in ensuring Kuratau School continues to strive for excellence in education for every child that is enrolled at Kuratau School.
A little about me - my study background is in Psychology and Mental Health. I have worked for the Waitemata District Health Board in adult mental health before taking a role with a Non-Government Organisation working with families who have a child with a disability. During this time I moved into a leadership role managing the provision of a range of services to families in need of support. More recently I have facilitated a Parenting Programme in prison before we moved to this area.
In 2016 I was elected onto Kuratau School Board of Trustees; I consider this responsibility a privilege. I personally think a strong positive partnership between school and parents benefits our children and their learning journey. I hope you will say ‘Hi’ when you see me around school or in the community.
