General Information

Kia ora te whanau o te kura o Kuratau
Nga mihi mahana kia koutou katoa
My name is Lorraine Kerr MNZM and I am President of the New Zealand School Trustees Association (NZSTA), representing the governing boards (Boards of Trustees) of 93% of New Zealand’s publicly-funded schools.
Along with other sector leaders I am a member of numerous government and cross-sector education reference groups and am known as a passionate and effective champion of change. I have been a school trustee since the inception of New Zealand’s system of elected community-based school boards of trustees – “Tomorrow’s Schools” in 1989.
Before taking on the role of NZSTA President, I was part of the Tuwharetoa Education team who managed a number of education partnership projects for both Tūwharetoa and the Ministry of Education.
In 2012 I was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to education. But, one of my best endeavours has been as a member of the board of trustees for Kuratau School. I am very proud of how far we at Kuratau have come - particularly under the dual leadership of Mabel Flight our Board Chair and Craig McGregor our Principal. Your tamariki and their learning experiences are not only our business but also your business. Together we can help our Kuratau tamariki be whatever they aspire to be.
He aha te mea nui o te ao? Maku a te atu – he tangata, he tangata, he tangata
What is the most important thing in the world? I will tell you – tis people, tis people, tis people.
Kind regards,
Lorraine Kerr
